Sara Miller

Director of Financial Client Services

What is your role at Johnson Insurance? At Johnson Insurance my primary focus is the Financial Services side of our business. One of my primary roles is prepping for all client meetings, essentially gathering all documents, paperwork, and applications, and ensuring everything is accurate prior to Greg meeting with our clients. I also handle all the processing of paperwork and service requests generated from those appointments. My role allows me to work directly with clients to take care of all their service needs and answer any questions they may have. I enjoy building that relationship with our clients and their trust.

What makes you proud to work at Johnson Insurance? The team I work with – I could not ask for a better group of people! They would drop anything to help each other out, whether it’s in their expertise or not.

Is risk-taking encourage, and what happens when people fail? I fail regularly. We are praised for trying, going the extra mile for our clients, and doing tasks with best intentions. We use the experience as a learning opportunity and it just helps our knowledge grow.

What is your favorite workplace tradition? Most definitely the annual luncheon, held on the first day of the March Madness tournament. We order in lunch, gather around the conference room table and enjoy watching a game together.

What do you love most about the insurance and financial planning industry? Every day is never the same. Each client has different needs, circumstances, and goals, which makes every financial plan different. It is like working on a new puzzle each day and I enjoy getting to a small part of that process.

What books are at your bedside? My favorite author currently is Maya Banks.

What do you like to do on your days off? Anything to do with my horse, which includes traveling, camping, and riding.

What is one thing you cannot resist? A piece of cake. I am not a sweet person and chocolate is my least favorite, but I can not turn down a piece of cake no matter the flavor.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Terrible phone etiquette in public. For example checking out at the grocery store and the person in front of me is talking on their phone, or eating at a restaurant and the person next to me is on their phone, or a person going through the drive through while on their phone and asking the restaurant staff to wait, so they can finish their conversation.

What would you do (for a career) if you were not doing this? I had always thought about being a business/finance teacher. The summers off always enticed me so I could spend more time riding my horse, but also because I don’t believe we teach our kids enough about finance basics like 401ks, group life insurance, health insurance and the importance of compound interest and how important it is to start saving early.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation? My family came from Wales – I would love to go and visit the country. To see the castles, the landscape, and the history of the area.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Buy my dream horse acreage in a secluded area that as lots of beautiful riding out my back door.

What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Cleaning the bathroom.
